Here's an elephant block to applique to go with
the circus tent, clown, and zebra blocks recently posted here (Click here
for the free applique Circus Tent block, here for the
Juggling Clown and here for the
Zebra.) to use in a
child's quilt. These blocks can be any
size (6-9" or so). One quilter wrote me that she plans to make the Circus
Tent block extra large in the center of her quilt and then put the smaller
blocks around it. On the next page you'll see a larger diagram to help
you see how to lay out the template pieces. If the quilt is not for a baby, try
using buttons for the eyes?
Also, remember if you want to use
duplicates of this elephant block, you can mirror image them to have the
elephant
facing either left or right for more variety. Just use the templates upside down
when you cut them. You can see a reversed elephant block at the right.
Print the templates and enlarge them a copy machine to the desired block size. The toes are all the same piece, so there is only one template for them.
Layout Diagram is here. (an
alternate "blown apart" elephant diagram)
Templates are here, there is just one template page.
If you make one of these blocks or a quilt top, please send me a photo or a scan of the block to show off what fabrics you used.
